Participatory Budgeting Project
Real money, real projects, real power.
Participatory Budgeting is a democratic process in which community members directly decide how to spend part of a public budget.
Putting real ideas on the map.
Here's a community map for Oakland, California. Participants placed hundreds of ideas directly on the map to be voted on and transformed into real projects funded by public dollars.
Some key features
* Custom categories with colorful icons were created for Community Programs & Services, Parks & Recreation, Streets & Sidewalk, Housing & Jobs.
* Administrators from the Participatory Budgeting Project could collect and manage private fields such as ethnicity, income, and email.
* A translation pipeline was created to make their map available in English, Spanish, and Chinese Mandarin.
